This occupational qualification prepares learners to work as Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officers, NQF L4 and SAQA ID: 121929, specializing in hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of safety control measures across designated work areas. Designed for both aspiring and practicing safety professionals, this qualification:
- Equips learners with essential skills for identifying hazards, assessing risks, and applying preventative control measures across various work settings in line with South African OHS legislation.
- Develops the capacity to conduct investigations into workplace incidents, recommend corrective actions, and contribute to a culture of safety and accountability.
- Prepares learners to manage OHS documentation and reporting systems, ensuring accurate compliance records, audit readiness, and informed decision-making.
- Integrates health and safety protocols with production planning to promote sustainable productivity without compromising worker wellbeing.

- Administer the Key Activities of an OHS Function
- Participate and Contribute Towards the Development of Hazard and Risk Assessments
- Coordinate the Work Activities of Occupational, Health and Safety Representatives
- Processes of Representing Employees Regarding their Workplace OHS Needs
- Processes of Executing OHS Administration and Document Management

Internship Requirement
This programme requires that the student undertake an internship during the workplace module.
Qualification Obtainable
On completion of the program, students will receive the National Occupational Certificate: Occupational Health and Safety Officer, NQF L4.
